NFL Week 11 Review: Colts, Saints Remain Unbeaten But Vikings the Team to Watch

NFL - American Football RSS / Nick Tedeschi / 23 November 2009 / Leave a comment

Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings are the team to beat in the NFL this season, writes Nick Tedeschi

The Indianapolis Colts followed up their amazing comeback win against New England in week ten by downing the Baltimore Colts 17-15 in another thriller to remain undefeated. The New Orleans Saints did likewise with a 38-7 rout of Tampa Bay, the seventh time this season the Saints have put 30-plus points on the board.

Both, of course, have been fantastic this season. Peyton Manning has further enhanced his reputation as one of the all-time great quarterbacks while Drew Brees and the Saints are the most feared offensive unit in the NFL.

The team to beat, however, are the 9-1 Minnesota Vikings. They aren't favoured to win the lot. They aren't favoured to win the NFC. Most experts want to punt them because of their unfashionable coach and old quarterback. Traders should consider them the most dangerous team in the NFL though.

The Vikings are a team of few weaknesses and showed that in their 35-9 week 11 win over Seattle. Favre has an array of receivers to throw to. Adrian Peterson is one of the most fearsome runners in the NFL. The defence leads the NFL in sacks and ranks third against the run.

Minnesota can be bet at better than 2.75 to win the NFC and 6.0 to win the Super Bowl.

The San Diego Chargers are making their run at the playoffs. A 32-3 win over division leaders Denver made it five wins on the trot and has the Chargers now leading the AFC West with a 7-3 record. With Ladanian Tomlinson back to his best, the Chargers could be the smokies for the Vince Lombardi Trophy this season. The 16.0 on offer can be taken.

The Cincinnati Bengals blew a chance to extend their lead in the highly competitive AFC North when they were upset 20-17 by the hapless Oakland Raiders. With Pittsburgh also losing to another ordinary team in Kansas City and Baltimore going down to the Colts, the Bengals maintain their lead in the North but the Oakland loss could prove costly down the stretch.

On Monday Night Football, the 5-5 Houston Texans host the streaking 3-6 Tennessee Titans in an intriguing AFC South battle. The Texans are having their finest season but have underachieved in the win column after three brutal losses by less than a touchdown when they were the better team. Matt Schaub and Houston have had two weeks to prepare for this and the high octane Texans offense should prove too strong for a Titans team who have struggled against quality teams all year. Smart traders will also play the over in what could be a shootout.
