But it didn't all go Holland's way. Diego Forlan once again inspired his team-mates, firing in a 41st minute goal to nullify van Bronckhorst's opener, while Maxi Pereira scored in the 92nd minute to offer hope of hugely unlikely draw with the Uruguayans trailing 3-1.
That late goal saw in-running bets of [85.0] on the final score rewarded while Forlan's opener denied punters prepared to take in-play prices as low as [1.06] about Holland holding the halftime advantage.
