Inter and Palermo goals galore

Inter beat Lecce 4-1 at San Siro just before Christmas, and in my opinion over 2.5 goals is generously priced

Aim high in the over/unders market this weekend in La Liga, with a little help from David Farrar, who also tells us all about the latest dance trend gripping European football...

Lecce v InterBetfair Live Video

Inter's remarkable run of victories in all competitions came to an end against Napoli in a dramatic Coppa Italia defeat in mid-week, but Claudio Ranieri's team can continue to pile the pressure onto Juventus, Udinese and Milan with a win against Lecce on Sunday.

Inter are unbeaten in their last nine Serie A meetings against Lecce, and even though Serse Cosmi's team are fighting, they shouldn't be anywhere near good enough to keep out an Inter attack which will probably be spearheaded by a well again Giampaolo Pazzini. Pazzini's only ever Serie A hat-trick came against Lecce, and he may just fill his boots again this weekend.

Inter are [1.65] for the win and that looks a perfectly fair price given the mood of optimism that seems to be permeating the Nerazzurri right now. A win at the Via del Mare will mean eight in a row in the league, and given that Lecce's transfer window signings look uninspiring so far, Inter are by far the likelier victors.

One interesting thing about Lecce, though, is that they possess firepower which can trouble any team in the division. Only once in their last seven games have they failed to score, and with Inter always prone to a defensive mistake, there's a chance that this will be a high scoring away win, rather than the kind of 1-0 shutout that Juve recently achieved here.

Inter beat Lecce 4-1 at San Siro just before Christmas, and in my opinion over 2.5 goals is generously priced at [1.94]. In fact, given Lecce's propensity to be involved in high-scoring games, I'm inclined to take a punt on over 3.5 goals at [3.35]. Inter will march on, and with Juventus and Udinese playing each other this weekend, the Ranieri title dream should be well and truly alive on Sunday night.

Recommended Bet: Over 3.5 goals @ [3.35]

Palermo v NovaraBetfair Live Video

I was sure I would log onto Betfair and see 'over 2.5 goals' available to back at around [1.7], and so was prepared to give this match a swerve. I'm surprised that we're able to back overs at around [1.94] though, and the advice has to be to get on.

Palermo beat Genoa 5-3 at the Renzo Barbera last weekend, and although they had been somewhat shot shy prior to that, I fully expect the men in pink to expose the worst defence in Serie A.

Bortolo Mutti was reportedly on the brink of being sacked before the win against Genoa, and he can thank the iconic Fabrizio Miccoli for saving him. Miccoli's injury and illness has been one of the main reasons that Palermo have been so poor in front of goal in the last few months, but last weekend he looked like the Pocket Rocket of old: creative, penetrative, and fully fit. He is making up for lost time, and could be set to destroy Novara.

The sides drew 2-2 earlier in the season, with Palermo throwing away a 2-0 lead, and with eight of Novara's last ten games producing over 2.5 goals (the other two fell just one short), there's every reason to get involved here.

Recommended Bet: Over 2.5 goals @ [1.94]

Away from these two games, the Juventus versus Udinese clash is obviously the match of the weekend, and I fancy Juve to win, but am staggered to see them as short as [1.67]. If you like those prices, you'd be far better piling on Inter to win at Lecce at [1.65], as Udinese continue to be underrated.

On a final, non-punting note, watch the Milan v Cagliari match carefully. The Milan players have recently taken to celebrating every goal by singing and dancing to a Brazilian song called "Ai se eu te pego" by Michael Telo. As you can see here, it's the dance craze that's sweeping European football.

Anyway, some players are better at it than others, and after his efforts in midweek, it might be worth tuning in just to see Antonio Nocerino trying to dance. It's dad at a wedding stuff, and if he scores his seventh goal of the season, you'll be falling off the sofa and hiding behind it all at the same time.
