Horse Betting: Beirne's brilliance back for Spring
Dominic concurs with the belief that Gai Waterhouse will dominate the Rosehill meeting.
Revered form analyst Dominic Beirne is back on-board at Betfair for the Spring Racing Carnival, urging Betfair backers to show caution before jumping at the (2.50) about Nechita for tomorrow's group one Golden Rose at Rosehill.
Beirne has rejoined Betfair for the Spring Carnival and will once again offer his enormously popular weekly previews and Monday post-mortems that will focus on changes to ante post markets and horses to follow for the spring classics.
In his first PREVIEW FOR THE GOLDEN ROSE, Beirne suggests the boom Patinack Farm filly, Nechita, is under the odds as favourite for the first group one of the season.
'When the first ante-post markets were released on the Golden Rose, three horses dominated the market and bookies were offering 20-1, except for group one winners Pierro and Samaready, and group two winner All Too Hard,' Beirne observes.
'This allows me to confidently state that, at best, we are looking for a group two standard winner, and since no horse in this field has won at group two level, it's a matter of finding the one that's on the springboard to improve to that level.
'The incredible thing about this race is that my market identifies five "value" bets in this race, which are the five outsiders of the field. Twenty-six fillies have lined up and 24 have been unplaced - a sobering stat if you're taking (2.40) (for Nechita) to win.
'At her current price, I'm passing on Nechita.'
Dominic concurs with the belief that Gai Waterhouse will dominate the Rosehill meeting, identifying one of her most promising gallopers as a stand-out bet for the day, and for the Epsom Handicap.
'Fat Al (trading @ Betfair odds of (4.20)) has a spiralling pattern of ratings. He's been lightly-raced and is a serious contender for the Epsom Handicap in three weeks time, for which he is currently priced at (24.0) (on Betfair.)'
The renowned Beirne is also tipping an upset in the McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley where he predicts (7.40) chance Stratcombe 'will settle fifth, from where I expect him to get a clear run to the outside and present into the race before Bel Sprinter (2.52)'
Dominic also this week provides his first genuine 'tip' for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup, a horse that will also run at Moonee Valley tomorrow.
