Horse Betting: Give them a Hammering at York

Hammerfest has been in excellent form this summer, finishing second in the Duke of Edinburgh Handicap at Royal Ascot

Hammerfest has been confirmed as an intended runner in the Ebor at York on August 25th.

John Hammond, the English-born, Chantilly-based trainer, has enjoyed multiple successes at the highest level during a stellar career, with the brilliant Montjeu his most famous horse to date.

Although nowhere near that class, Hammerfest has been in excellent form this summer, finishing second in the Duke of Edinburgh Handicap at Royal Ascot before coming third on his latest start in a Deauville Listed race.

"He'll probably run if he gets in," said Hammond.

"He's in good form and his last couple of runs have been good. I wouldn't want soft ground. Good or even good to firm would be better for him."

Hammerfest currently trades @ Betfair odds of (13.0) for the famous handicap on the Knavesmire on August 25.
