Despite suffering a setback in the mid-term elections, President Barack Obama is just [1.2] to again be the Democratic Party presidential nominee.
Democrats defeated in House of Reps battle and take a blow in the Senate contest but still remain odds-on to retain control of the White House in two years.
The Republicans may well have seized the House of Representatives in the US mid-term elections, but the betting on Betfair suggests they have it all to do if they are to oust the Democrats from Washington in the 2012 Presidential Election.
At [2.3] on the exchange, the yet-to-be-named Republican party nominee faces an uphill struggle in the race for the White House. Candidates tipped to lead the Republican campaign include [4.6] shot Mitt Romney, and 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, available at [6.6].
The Democrats are odds-on favourites at [1.75] to again have their nominee installed in the Oval Office. Despite suffering a setback in the mid-term elections, President Barack Obama is just [1.2] to again be the Democratic Party presidential nominee, followed by Hilary Clinton at [8.2].
Betfair's Alex Bake said: "Despite the Republican party's success in the mid-terms our customers think the Democrat party still have the edge, indicating that there is still a level of support for the under-fire president."
