SportsAlive is the new name of the amalgamated Sports Acumen and Global Sportsbet business. Not much has changed as it is the exact same site, but with different colours as the Sports Acumen and Global sites have been consolidated to sit under the same umbrella.
As the name suggests they focus heavily on Sport. Infact their Racing service is mostly a space filler and seen somewhat of a pure necessity to offer clients. They do offer Best of 3 Totes and SP for Metropolitan racing (limited to bets of $2,000), but much smaller limits of $1,000 and $500 for Provincial and Country racing, so it is certainly not for the keen racing punter.
Where they do come into their own however is the Spread betting available on many sport markets. Spread betting is a far more common option in the UK, US and financial markets, but SportsAlive own the market on Spread (sometimes referred to as Index betting) in the Australian zone, as they are the only bookmaker offering it. Esentially Spread betting will give you the option to win more the more your teams wins by, or lose by the more your team wins by. If your not familiar with Spread Betting it's certainly an interesting concept and one to check out as it keeps you in every game right up until the final whistle, with every point making a different to your profit or loss.
SportsAlive certainly provide some handy promotions, with your first deposit matched with a free bet to the same amount up to $100. They have also offered several 'double the odds' promotions on pre-post racing markets would are most attractive to punter.
The depth to the SportsAlive sports markets is very good, with several different 'lines' offered on all NRL, AFL and Super 14 markets giving punters the option to choose what price and risk they want to take, rather than being stuck with the standard 1.91 options. And whilst on that point SportsAlive bet $1.92 lines on ALL sports markets, which keeps them very competitive from a price point of view.
SportsAlive quote North Melbourne as a 41.0 chance to win the flag in the AFL in 2009; they do not have markets yet on the State of Origin or the US Masters.
