Parramatta caused the upset of the season by beating the Dragons 25-12 at WIN Jubilee Oval, writes Andy Morris.
The win, coming just a week after the Eels were thrashed by the Dragons, saw them established as a genuine contender for the premiership and send the Sea Eagles out of the competition.
It means the Eels will take on the Titans next weekend while the Dragons go to the Broncos.
The Dragons led with a Jamie Soward penalty but Luke Burt scored under the posts in the 26th minute. Daniel Mortimer added another four-pointer soon after, before the Dragons replied through Dan Hunt and Soward's conversion cut the deficit to four points at half-time.
Eric Grothe scored an intercept try for the Eels, Brett Morris replied with 10 minutes left but Luke Burt kicked a field goal from 41 metres and the Eels had the game wrapped up.
Manly had played their own part in their downfall by losing 40-12 to Melbourne at Etihad Stadium, where the Storm's Billy Slater scoring four tries.
Slater got his try blitz up and running inside three minutes, and Dane Nielsen added another try before Slater's second try made it 14-0.
The second half started with more Melbourne success, Slater completing his hat-trick within four minutes of the restart then scoring again. Cam Smith and Aiden Tolman added more tries before two late consolation tries from Manly, with Steve Matai and Keiran Foran scoring.
The Broncos got the better of their Queensland rivals the Titans, winning 40-32 at Skilled Park.
Israel Folau scored two tries and created another before half-time to leave Brisbane 28-10 ahead.
Folau completed his hat-trick after the break with a score that proved crucial as the Titans stormed back and threatened to catch the Broncos.
Preston Campbell had the Titans in front early on, but Andrew McCullough replied then further tries followed to Folau, Dave Taylor, Darren Lockyer and Jharal Yow Yeh.
But the Titans scored three tries in the space of 11 minutes in the second half to come right back into the match, two from Kevin Gordon.
The Bulldogs are one win away from the grand final after beating Newcastle 26-12 at ANZ Stadium.
The Knights scored first through Junior Sau, with Josh Morris getting the Bulldogs' first on 26 minutes.
Luke Patten crossed to put the Bulldogs ahead and grabbed his double just before the break.
Ben Hannant also touched down for the Bulldogs, with Scott Dureau scoring a try for the Knights.
Hazem El Masri kicked five goals for the Bulldogs.
