Jonathan Wilson

Jonathan Wilson is a freelance journalist and author, who has written for every British national broadsheet. A former football correspondent of the Financial Times, he writes regularly for the Guardian, the Independent and FourFourTwo magazines.
He has published three books.
Inverting the Pyramid: A History of Football Tactics won the NSC Football Book of the Year Award and was shortlisted for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year award, while Behind the Curtain: Travels in Eastern European Football was shortlisted for the NSC award. Being from Sunderland, he acknowledges Bob Kyle's 1913 title-winners as the greatest side ever, but also have a lingering affection for the Red Star Belgrade side of 1990-91. Who were brilliant, even if it might not have looked like it in the final.
