2010 Epsom Handicap winner Captain Sonador aims to add his name to this list.

Sarah Peatling wraps up a big of week of racing with fact files on the EMIRATES STAKES & PATINACK FARM CLASSIC.

FACT: Seven mares have won the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) since 1960.

Palacio De Cristal and Allez Wonder represent the fairer sex in this year's account.


FACT: Barrier one has a dominant record in the Emirates Stakes having provided five winners in the last 20 years.

Group 3 Moonga Stakes winner, Rothera, will start from barrier one.


FACT: Three horses have won the Epsom Handicap (1600m) and Emirates Stakes in the same year: Chanteclair (1986), Riverdale (1984) and Gunsynd (1971).

FACT: No horse has won the Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) and Emirates Stakes Handicap in the same year since 1960.

The Con Karakatsanis-trained Black Piranha is out to make history.


FACT: Only one horse, Dazzling Duke (1985), has won the Crystal Mile and Emirates Stakes in the same year, while three Crystal Mile winners have placed second and two third in the Emirates Stakes.


This year's Crystal Mile winner, Sound Journey, aims to follow Dazzling Duke's unique double.


FACT: Hall of Fame Legend Bart Cummings is the most successful trainer to win the Emirates Stakes, with six wins to his belt.

This year he is represented by last year's Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) winner, Allez Wonder.


FACT: Number three is the most winning saddle-cloth in the Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic (1200m), having saluted five times in the last 20 years.

Sydney visitor, Melito, carries the lucky number three saddle-cloth.


FACT: The last mare to win the Patinack Farm Classic was Miss Andretti in 2007.

Unbeaten sprint sensation, Black Caviar, Melito and Ortensia represent the fairer sex in this year's race.


FACT: Black Caviar has won all of her starts (seven from seven), while Hay List has won 12 from 14 starts.
