Fordee's my fancy

Saturday's Flemington card is tough, with plenty of open races, writes Kristen Manning.

In The Bart Cummings Fordee looks nicely placed to run a bold race. He has finished off his two races this preparation well and connections have always thought well of him as a staying prospect.

Hot Danish will have plenty of fans in the Blazer Stakes but she has drawn awkwardly.

I am expecting improvement from Flying Ruby back at the Flemington 1400m and Gold Water is worth watching fresh.

It is not a vintage running of the Edward Manifold and it may be a year for roughies.

Lady Pachira just got too far back on a track suiting on-pacers at Sandown and her previous win was an impressive one.

The Gilgai Stakes is a really interesting contest and the three worth watching are those with impressive strike rates - Ortensia, Eagle Falls and First Command.

In the final event Chasm looks a nice each-way bet - fitter for recent runs and close to his best.
