Typhoon Tracy can blow rivals away

The $500,000 Myer Classic is a 1600m contest for mares and Typhoon Tracy looks like being the shortest priced favourite of the day, writes Kristen Manning.

Second that day was Hot Danish who is the main threat here and she is a two times winner at the mile. Lady Lynette meanwhile won the Tesio over this same trip at Moonee Valley and whilst she takes on better mares this time she really knows how to get to the line - winning nine of 20.

Not far behind her at the Valley was Subtle Cove who looks very well this time in and she can run another cheeky race at good odds.

Two others who look value are Messenger (up in class but a strong winner last time) and Gold Water (a consistent mare who performs well at Flemington).

It is however hard to go past the favourite. She has had just the one run at 1600m, beaten a nose by Vigor (Master O'Reilly third) in the Makybe Diva Stakes. She should go one better here.

The $750,000 Mackinnon Stakes is the weight-for-age feature of the day and it is always an exciting race.

They are an even bunch this year although it was hard not to be impressed by the ease of Rangirangdoo's Crystal Mile victory at Moonee Valley last Saturday.

He is yet to be tried over the 2000m but being a son of Pentire he should get the trip. Several of his main rivals here are back in distance and that can be trickier than stepping up. Viewed has come up extremely well though and he loves Flemington - whilst Zipping's Cox Plate third last weekend was a gutsy one.
