There's a stand-out bet in the $500,000 Coolmore Stud Stakes, a 1200m dash down the straight for three-year-olds - King Pulse, writes Kristen Manning.
Quite a few different form lines here and early favourite is the filly Irish Lights, back in distance after a gutsy 1000 Guineas victory. Not an easy task against some boys - and there are some extra smart ones here.
One of those is Darley's Demerit who skipped the Caulfield Guineas to be aimed at this. He was impressive taking out the Guineas Prelude at only his third outing and the form is solid - Cox Plate runner up Manhattan Rain third in that race and Guineas winner Starspangledbanner fourth.
Of course barriers really come into play in straight races and it is hard to say this far out just where the best place to be will be.
Highly rated by trainer Michael Moroney, he bolted in at debut and was able to go right on with it at Caulfield last time - still a little "new" but very good over the final stages.
There are several other chances here however - Phelan Ready, Paprika and Wanted each bound to appreciate a return to their own age group.
