RACE NOTES:
The race opened up when well-supported Stirling Grove ($4.90 to $3.80) kicked out in the stalls and scratched by vets. A late flurry ensued which made Brightexpectations a popular $4.00 favourite.
Eventual winner General Truce traded at a high price of $175 before going off at $110. Victorian tote punters could do no better than odds of $56.30.
Sweet Cheeks was matched at a low of $1.22 when appearing the winner before an inside run for General Truce (matched at an in-running high of $85) saw him go on to victory.

Lucky Thunder was the clear popular elect in this event, and had layers very nervous when he loomed through a dream run in the straight. Trading as low as $1.22 at this stage, Lucky Thunder's run peaked shortly thereafter with Poised To Win ($18 in-the-run) going home the better to score a nice victory for his in-running supporters.

The $648,516 traded in the win market on the race was an increase of 62% on the $398,168 traded on the same race (won by Road To Rock) last year.
Punters had trouble finding a favourite in this race with Raffaello, Timetable and My Bentley all having turns on the roundabout before settling down to install Raffaello a slight favourite at $4.
$18,000 was matched in-running, with Timetable and My Bentley both reaching $2.50 in the straight before being beaten.

Total matched on market : $925,794 (SuperTAB $835k, NSW TAB $483k, UniTAB $320k). In 2008, $598k was matched on Betfair on the same race.

RACE NOTES:
A big win for layers, with $703k matched on Governance and $122k on Silver Spur. A total of $925k traded in the win market race on Betfair, exceeding all three totes' volumes, and up 55% on 2008.
Governance was the short favourite from the time markets went up, matched at a low of $1.70 before drifting to a starting price of $2.40 (high of $2.60) as money came for Silver Spur.
With Governance caught in the ruck down the straight, opportunist in-running punters launched into Silver Spur which saw it matched at $1.10 before It'llbefantastic came along the fence to win.

Intriguing betting affair with the ever-popular Apache Cat opening favourite at $3.95 but drifting out to a high of $5.90 and an SP of $5.40. All Silent was favourite at the off, at $4, after meeting high and low matched prices of $4.60 and $3.45 respectively.
With the flotilla of gun sprinters spread across the track, in-running punters bet keenly. Most notably, Wanted was matched at $2.40 until All Silent came from last (matched at $5 at that stage) to gave the field windburn down the centre of the track.

RACE NOTES:
This race engendered two ring-a-ding-ding battles: one in the pre-event betting where backers and layers exchanged punches in settling on a favourite among Purple and Lady Lynette (both starting at around $4.50), and; a hoof-to-hoof equine dogfight between the aforementioned mares, plus Silvercitymiss and Moment In Time, on the track.
Winner Purple was laid as high as $6 in the run, and never lower than $1.44. Silvercitymiss met a minimum of $1.70 when giving the other mares something to chase. But perhaps the most interesting story was that of Lady Lynette, who traded as low as $1.11 ($1500 matched at that price) during the run to the wire.
The $839k bet on the Matriarch was some 86% increase on the 2008 instalment ($443k).

With Derby day form behind Cup winner Shocking at the forefront of punters' minds, Hume was the well-fancied runner in the Queen Elizabeth and started at $3.40 after being matched at odds as low as $2.80.
Interestingly, punters traded $10,000 in-running before the field had gone 500m. This trend continued with a further $25k matched in the run, before Sterling Prince loomed handsomely to win and did so accordingly.
