With this Saturday's return to racing of impressive mare Typhoon Tracy in the Group One Orr Stakes, Ben Asgari rates her chances.

...Typhoon Tracy’s main aims this preparation are both the Orr and Futurity Stakes at Caulfield over the coming weeks, which means punters can expect her to be fully wound up and ready to go come Saturday

Dual Group One winning mare Typhoon Tracy is set to run this Saturday in the Group One Orr Stakes at Caulfield (1400 metres).

Despite seven of the ten horse field being Group One winners, with triple Sandown Classic winner Zipping in the mix, Typhoon Tracey's return to the track sees her set to start as odds on favourite.

A noted 'good horse's' race, the Orr boasts an honour roll including horses such as Comic Court, Rising Fast, Surround, Manikato, Vo Rogue, Let's Elope and Saintly, and, in just the last ten years, Redoute's Choice, Lonhro, Elvstroem, El Segundo and Maldivian.

With two wins and a third from three previous first up attempts, and two wins and a third at the 1400 metres, it is that third place which holds the most significance for this weekend's race.

First up last preparation in the weight-for-age Liston Stakes over this very track and distance, Typhoon Tracy rode a hot speed before sprinting clear, only to be run down late by Predatory Pricer and Whobegotyou. While it was an outstanding run, trainer Peter Moody has since said she was only half-fit due to her commencing a Cox Plate preparation at the time.

Moody was recently quoted as saying that Typhoon Tracy's main aims this preparation are both the Orr and Futurity Stakes at Caulfield over the coming weeks, which means punters can expect her to be fully wound up and ready to go come Saturday.

Importantly, Typhoon Tracy possesses the tactical speed to make the most of barrier one, and with the majority of the field comprising middle distance or staying horses first up from a spell, jockey Luke Nolen will, depending on the early speed, probably choose to lead or take the sit off noted on pacer Danzylum.

In considering the line-up, one cannot take lightly Group one horses such as Heart of Dreams or Snipers Bullet, or even Melbourne Cup winners Viewed and Shocking.

However, should Typhoon Tracy bring her A game to the track on Saturday, it could well be daylight filling second place.
