Mick Kent heads to Betfair Park this Wednesday with a strong team, believes Ben Asgari.
With the experience of her impressive debut at Betfair Park last month, placing second to Royal Commands, Depasse should prove very hard to hold out from barrier ten
With runners in three of the seven races on the card, Cranbourne trainer Mick Kent will be looking forward to a strong showing at Betfair Park this Wednesday.
Winged Charm and Depasse, both running in race two, the Shame Super Vobis Handicap, a restricted event for fillies over the 1300 metres, ensure the stable looks well placed to kick things off with a bang. Despite this in all probability being the most competitive race on the program, both of the Kent stable runners look to have solid claims in a race featuring a host of winning chances.
After a disappointing last start when favourite at Flemington, this race represents a drop in class for Winged Charm, albeit with the steadying influence of 59kgs on her back for regular rider Glen Boss.
Both Boss and Craig Williams, who maintains the ride on Depasse, will probably look to settle off the pace. With the experience of her impressive debut at Betfair Park last month, placing second to Royal Commands, Depasse should prove very hard to hold out from barrier ten.
Blue Oscar represents the Kent stable in race five on the card, the Betfair Handicap over 1800 metres.
Already a winner at this track and distance in his last preparation, the stable has obviously changed its mind on the decision to restrict Blue Oscar's races to 1400 metres after he disappointed over the extra distance in the spring.
However, a fifth place behind Tintern at Flemington in November doesn't seem such a bad run in hindsight, and it does look a race in two, with the Peter Snowden-trained Pinatas the logical danger to Blue Oscar, making it two from two at this track and distance.
Lightly raced mare Paint it Black is the final Mick Kent trained runner on the card after she squeezed into the field at the bottom of the weights in the last race on the card, the Tullia Handicap, a 1400 metre restricted event for mares.
In what looks a very strong race, jockey Dean Holland will need to be at his very best from barrier nine to try and get Paint it Black over the line as she realistically only has a rough each way hope.
