Jujube the sweet bet of the day

Jujube looks set to run a big race, and with Mick Kent-trained Paint It Black the likely favourite, some attractive odds may be available with Betfair.

Leading Melbourne trainer Peter Moody has his bases covered in the southern states on Wednesday, believes Brad Thompson.

Since transferring from the Northern Territory, Nothing Shall Pass lived right up to his namesake in his last start with an all-the-way win at Strathalbyn.

The six-year-old now seems to have adjusted to racing in South Australian conditions, and, carrying more than capable apprentice Kate Dyson, claiming 1.5kg from the topweight of 59kg, he should be hard to toss again.

I doubt the odds will be overly attractive, but anything over $2.50 doesn't seem like bad value in this modest field.

Further east, Moody saddles up two likely types in Jujube and Star Scream at Betfair Park.

The Richfield Lady Handicap over 1800 is race two of the day. Jujube looms as one of the bets of the program and, with what seems like superior form to her opponents, this very lightly-race four-year-old has this race well within her grasp.

From gate two, in-form hoop Luke Nolen aboard the daughter of Encosta De Lago will relish the lesser journey after a four-length fifth to Swooper at Morphettville over 2008m last start.

The same can be said in race three, where Moody brings Star Scream back in grade after a below-par performance at group two level.

Allocated topweight of 59kg in the Theo Super Vobis Handicap over 1400m, apprentice Jarrod Fry claims 3kg, to bring the impost back down to 56kg.

From four starts, the son of Testa Rossa has saluted in encouraging fashion, his only failures coming on a heavy track, and another in black type company.

I wouldn't expect exciting odds here, but he should win.
