Third in last week's Miracle Mile, Karloo Mick backs up in the M.H. Treuer Memorial at 9.15 at Bankstown and will surely start a warm favourite.
There was no disappointment in his performance at Menangle, where he recorded a personal best.
Lew seeking first big win
And the good news for his trainer Barry Lew, who is chasing a maiden Group 1 victory, is that none of the nine-year-old's rivals from that race will be on the start line this time.
The Dubbo pacer, a son of Panorama, has come on well since the Miracle Mile, reports Lew, who said: "I can't wait for Saturday to come around so he can have a crack at the Treuer."
Lew is relieved that Karloo Mick was given a front row draw, from gate four, as he has not fared particularly well in terms of draws in the past.
Last year he tackled the Treuer and was second from gate nine, so there is every chance that this year will see him take out the honours.
Bennett again in driving seat
The other thing in Lew's favour is that Greg Bennett will again be driving, with the trainer pointing to his abilities as key in what has been an improvement in the horse over the past year.
Karloo Mick confirmed his favouritism in the Cordina Chicken Sprint at Harold Park on November 20, beating Can't Bluff Me with a powerful finish, and also scored twice in October, at Eugowra and Ashburton.
His rivals include Western Cam, trained and driven by Natalie Rasmussen, who is going for a hat-trick after wins at Albion Park on November 14 (beating Camber Lad) and Menangle last week in the Behemia Crystal Free For All where he overcame a poor start to beat Saucy Legend.
Also present will be Can't Bluff Me, who ran second to Blacks a Fake in the Queensland Pacing Championship, the previously mentioned Saucy Legend who won the Newcastle Mile and Washakie who competed in the New Zealand Cup.
