Greyhound action this week continues at Cannington in Perth on Saturday night with Heats of the Sky Channel Perth Cup and Galaxy for the stayers.

Australia Cup winner Velocette is the best bet of the Cup Heats - beautifully drawn in box 2 he'll give the track record a nudge to record his fifth win on end (it's Race 6 at 8.57 p.m.).

Another good thing on the card is the versatile Mantra Lad (2 - 7.27) coming off his excellent win last week when he knocked off Miss Slick from the same box and over the same trip in a speedy 30.07. Miss Slick (4 - 8.12) gets her own chance to return to the winner's podium but she's probably drawn the toughest Heat of the night with Bo Frazier and Fedex sure to provide stiff opposition.

And it wouldn't surprise me to see a Queenslander or two sneak into the Perth Cup Final with the best chance going to Dashing Corsair (8 - 9.32). A terrific beginner he'll take a heap of catching.

In the Galaxy for stayers I think the four Heats include 4 standout winners:

Lilley Criminal (3 - 7.50), Vintage Octane (5 - 8.35), Gunnadoo Magic (7 - 9.17) and Sirocco Hero (9- 9.47).

A top card with plenty of 'birds' to entertain us eastern staters late on Saturday evening.

On Thursday night at Albion Park don't miss the five Heats of the Bogie Leigh Queensland Futurity (G2 for female greyhounds not older than 2 years 10 months) should provide great entertainment.

Digital Magic and Sky Fly High fought out the National Futurity at The Gardens and resume their rivalry in Heat 3 which is race 6 at 8.28 p.m. Hard to see Digital Magic being beaten but it might pay to watch the betting fluctuations in case there is a move for Sky Fly High. Although drawn 8 Digital Magic has overcome that obstacle several times already in her career.

Among the other heats I like Irreplaceable, Special Sign, Gnarraloo (although my heart will be with Bogie Gem with the Series named after her mum!), and St James' Gate.
