The Iceman was tied for second here last year and he's been threatening an unlikely comeback win for a couple of years now.
Dan gives DJ a second chance and sides with a pair of revitalised old-timers in this week's Three Against The Field column.
Plenty of eyes will be on Dubai this week where Mike Norman gets a chance to take on the Tiger but the PGA Tour hits one of the most famous courses in the world and in Tiger's absence it's time for some former stars to shine.
Dustin Johnson let us down last week but in his short career so far he's made it clear that Pebble Beach is his playground. Put simply, Dustin owns this place, he's taken the last two runnings of this event and really should have won last year's US Open here. Oppose him at your peril, his short price is justified.
A lot was made of Vijay Singh's decision to play his last hole at the Phoenix in the dark. Ultimately it proved the right decision, so let's hope his lie in on Monday has him refreshed here! VJ is a past winner of this tournament (as he is most tournaments) and I really think he will consolidate last week's top-five finish with another good run here.
This week it's not just a resurgence from Singh I'm looking for. David Duval is playing with VJ this week and there has to be a good chance they can inspire each other to a good week. The Iceman was tied for second here last year and he's been threatening an unlikely comeback win for a couple of years now. I shall be following this grouping of former world beaters with interest. Here's a completely irrelevant yet brilliant recent picture Justin Rose took of Double D: http://twitpic.com/3qtvd7.
Dangers: I feel for you if you've backed Nick Watney in either of the last two weeks. God knows what he's been doing in the early parts of the week but he's been finishing like a man possessed. As far as Watney's form goes, the cat is out of the bag, his price is short, but boy is he playing well. It's a price I was nearly willing to take. A strong finish at the Phoenix Open showed Gary Woodland is no one tournament wonder, if he's not feeling the effects of recent exertions he can go well again here.
Selections: Dustin Johnson [8.2], Vijay Singh [38.0], David Duval [120.0]
