I was brought up in the sporting stronghold of Lancashire and like most kids dabbled in pretty much any sport going. After getting a tooth knocked out playing school rugby union I decided that freezing winter mornings and sport was not my scene so naturally angled towards the summer sports instead.
Cricket (not bad), golf (poor), tennis (truly terrible) and a brief flirtation with the triple jump (surprisingly adequate) ended up being the main staples of my distinctly amateur sporting career.
A grounding in economics somehow led to the Betfair Market Operations department in early 2004 where I have been ever since. Specialising in the tennis and cricket markets, it’s been a pleasure to witness numerous memorable sporting and Betfair epics, especially the Federer–Nadal Wimbledon finals.
Old habits die hard though and when the sunny season comes around I can be found wielding the willow and turning my arm over in the lower levels of the Middlesex County League.
