Bill Elliott

Bill covered his first Open in 1969 at Royal Lytham when Tony Jacklin won and has worked at another 31 since. Along the way Elliott has been to 28 consecutive US Masters, 25 US Opens and one USPGA Championship.

"It's too hot at the average USPGA," he usually whinges. Has been golf writer for The Observer newspaper for the last 12 years and is presently also editor at large of Golf Monthly magazine. Author of several golf related books, his latest effort 'The Golf Bag Buddy', is in its second print.

Enjoys decent wine, good company and leather chairs, usually in this precise order. Belfast born, teenage years spent in Lancashire and now lives on the Surrey/Hampshire borders in a house he fools himself he can afford. Supports Preston North End from a distance. Plays golf from a distance too.
