A housemate hand grenade from Dixie changed the shape of Big Brother betting on Sunday when Renee was hurtled into the danger zone and ultimately evicted.
Renee's eviction, voted for by 37.9% of TV viewers, came as a surprise to many involved in Big Brother betting.
Before the Sunday night eviction, Renee was available at $6.20 to win, with only Travis and Rory offering better odds.
But a lot can change in a week, and Big Brother's new voting rules had a major impact.
Up until this week, TV viewers have voted for the housemate they want to save and the housemates have decided on which of the three least popular with viewers to evict.
This week, however, Big Brother asked competitors to nominate their least favourite housemates and viewers to vote on which of the bottom three to evict.
Sunday's eviction was further complicated by Dixie's hand grenade. The hand grenade rule allows competitors to punish their least favourite housemate or make up a rule when they are evicted.
Last week, Dixie used her hand grenade to save Alice from eviction. Usually only three people would be up for eviction, but because the fourth and fifth least favourite housemates after Alice were on equal points, both of them were brought into the mix.
That dropped 22-year-old abattoir worker Renee and 52-year-old grandmother Terri into the bottom four, alongside Bianca and Brigitte.
Renee, who was unaware she was up for eviction until Sunday night, went on to receive the majority of Australia's eviction votes.
Renee's eviction comes after a tumultuous week in the house. Travis broke down in tears after being picked on by Nobbi, Rory and Ben, and Renee fell out with Bianca after a fiery argument about Bianca's desire to have a breast reduction once she met her future husband.
Renee and Bianca had to be restrained from hitting each other during the argument and both received strikes from Big Brother for their bad behaviour. The two made up before the eviction, but TV viewers had seen a side of Renee they didn't like, and she fell out of favour.
Renee's eviction hand grenade was less dramatic than Dixie's and is unlikely to have any serious impact on Big Brother betting at next week's eviction.
She told Brigitte her daddy's girl routine didn't wash with her and lobbed her the hand grenade, which prevented Brigitte from receiving a message from loved ones, which every other housemate received.
