Monaco’s ability to counter-punch will be crucial here
Argentine Juan Monaco is Brad Thompson's best bet for tonight's French Open action, as the 13th seed clashes with Milos Raonic.
The Betfair market anticipates this to be one of the tightest matches of the night, with Monaco the outsider @ Betfair odds of (2.04) and Raonic well backed into favourite.
But with a better clay record, and much more experience on the surface, Monaco looks the way to go in this match.
He needed two tie-breaks to get through his second round clash with Lukas Rosol, but overall on clay, his record of 13-4 suggests he can account for Raonic.
Monaco's ability to counter-punch will be crucial here. He will hoping to keep each point in play for as long as possible.
On the other hand, with a solid serve, Raonic will try to assert authority on the service games, which will be the biggest danger for Monaco.
Raonic is probably the top elect with bettors on the back of beating Andy Murray on clay recently in Barcelona.
But Monaco is in just as good form. He won on clay in Houston, beating John Isner recently, and he also took a set off Novak Djokovic in Italy.

Another player with a little chance at odds tonight is Tommy Haas (3.5) to upset Richard Gasquet.
Haas had to qualify to earn his spot at the tournament, but looks to be in handy form on the clay surface.
