With the final 700metres at 7.4% gradient, the Slovakian is surely the hot favourite for Stage 3 honours.
The Tour Connoisseur can't go past Slovakian Sagan for Stage Three honours but hasn't given up the possibility the reigning champ might be there in the finish.
The Favourites
Peter Sagan
Showed how devastating he can be to his rivals on the uphill finish to stage 1. With the final 700metres at 7.4% gradient, the Slovakian is surely the hot favourite for Stage 3 honours.
Philippe Gilbert
Said after the Prologue that he felt the legs he had in 2011 were almost back. He wasn't far wrong with a 4th place on Stage 1. He should be getting better each day and with another uphill finish expect him in the mix.
Alejandro Valverde
Sixth on Stage 1, the Spaniard is another rider suited to the tough finishes. He has won before on an uphill finish at Le Tour and looks like he's almost back to his best - should be there or thereabouts.
Outsider
Cadel Evans
Evans took out Stage 4 last year on the tough Mur-De-Bretagne, so with a similar finish to Stage 3 he has to be one to watch.
The Smokey
Edvald Boasson Hagen
Third on Stage 1, only just off the pace of Sagan and Cancellara, so he'll be targeting this one.
In Summary
Get on Sagan: after his win on Stage 1 he has to be the hot favourite for this one. Gilbert and Valverde are worth it also. Both in the mix already, they're confidence will be up.
Evans can be deceivingly strong on these days, so he'll be a marked man, but it may not matter, so he's worth a little.
Boasson Hagen is definitely the Smokey, so versatile.
You might have to hedge your bets...
