Wigan must deal with the sting of going out to Paolo Di Canio's League Two outfit, Swindon.

Joe Dyer loves that it was a good day for upsets in the third round of the FA Cup.

In a hard going day for the Premier League's bottom clubs, Blackburn and Wigan tumbled out of the FA Cup, while Bolton and QPR needed late equalisers to stay in the competition.

Rovers have the excuse of facing good quality Premier League opposition in the shape of Newcastle, the home matched at [10.0] in-play on Betfair during a 2-1 win, but Wigan must deal with the sting of going out to Paolo Di Canio's League Two outfit, Swindon. The Latics opened the scoring from the spot but soon lost that advantage and went behind with 14 minutes left. Swindon were backed at a high of [9.2].

Bolton held the lead at Macclesfield, lost it and then went behind, only to salvage some pride with a 77th minute equaliser courtesy of David Wheater. The League Two club were backed at a low of [1.55] when ahead late on.

For QPR there was not even the comfort being involved in an entertaining encounter. Neil Warnock's struggling side levelled matters with an 89th goal after a penalty area mix-up, denying Dons backers at [1.07], and lost Alejandro Faurlin to what may be a long-term injury.

Premier League winners on the day include FA Cup third-favourites Spurs, who beat Cheltenham 3-0; Everton, who overcame Tamworth 2-0; and Fulham, who hammered Charlton 4-0. Stoke came from behind to beat Gillingham 3-1 and West Brom enjoyed a ding-dong battle with Cardiff, eventually emerging 4-2 winners.

Notable Cup upsets were made at Reading, where Stevenage landed in-play bets at a high of [7.8] thanks to a 1-0 win, and Brighton as Wrexham held their Championship hosts to a 1-1 draw.

The action continues with the Manchester derby, and Sunderland's visit to Peterborough among the highlights.
