But there’s plenty to like about Spring Keroma recent outings, not least a seven-length win over Golden Sprite at Lismore two weeks ago.
Trainer Anthony Azzopardi is no stranger to success and he has a strong contender for the Betfair Stake at Wentworth Park on Friday in the shape of Spring Keroma.
She won't be favourite for the race due to the of presence of David Righetti's Mr Caluela, who is going for a fourth straight win.
But there's plenty to like about her recent outings, not least a seven-length win over Golden Sprite at Lismore two weeks ago.
She was second to Rambling Gypsy over this track/distance on October 8, and has four wins and three seconds in her 14 races.
That's a better win percentage than Mr Caluela can boast, despite his recent successes.
That said, it's hard to ignore Mr Caluela's hot streak right now as he has won three races in the space of two weeks, including a five-length victory over Destiny's Imp here on Saturday.
Northern Bound, owned and trained by Judy Player, is another one to watch. Though last of the eight here over the 720m trip last Friday, and from the same box six, he's won two of his last four races and boasts $28,000 prizemoney from his 71-race career.
