Despite this quality, one only has to watch a replay of Parables finishing burst in the Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes twelve months ago to understand why she is a legitimate winning chance even with her racing pattern.
Ben Asgari won't be surprised if Darley mare Parables kicks off a potentially lucrative spring preparation this Saturday in tackling the $125,000 Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.
Drawn in barrier 5 for Darley's number one rider Kerrin McKevoy, Parables will need plenty of luck given her racing pattern means she will probably have most of the field in front of her coming to the home turn.
Speaking with Radio Sport National's Shane Anderson during the week, Peter Snowden said Parables was "pretty forward", had trialled well for Saturday's race and that he expected her to run well.
The Darley head trainer went on to say he believed Parables should have derived plenty of benefit thanks to a decent spell following a slight hiccup after her victory in the Group 2 Surround Stakes in March.
While mindful of the fact that Parables seemingly struggled at the mile when third to Secret Admirer in the Group 1 Flight Stakes, Snowden has loosely pencilled in the Group 1 Myer Classic as the mare's likely spring target.
Following Saturday's run in the Cockram, Parables could conceivably head to the $200,000 Group 2 Let's Elope Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on September 3rd, before being set for the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September the 24th.
Should Parables prove to be a level below races the calibre of the Myer Classic or Sir Rupert Clarke, Snowden can always aim her at mares' races such as the Group 2 Blazer Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on Turnbull Stakes Day or the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) on Caulfield Cup Day.
Looking to the Cockram on Saturday, it is certainly a cracking field, including classy types such as Brazilian Pulse, Do Ra Mi, Southern Speed, Pinker Pinker or Lady Lynette, as well as fit and form runners such as Mid Summer Music, Rue Maple, Star of Giselle and Anabaa's Legacy.
Despite this quality, one only has to watch a replay of Parables finishing burst in the Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes twelve months ago to understand why she is a legitimate winning chance even with her racing pattern.
It is also worth noting the form of Red Tracer, the runner up to Parables at her latest start in the Surround.
Following the Surround, Red Tracer went on to record a couple of extremely impressive stakes victories and it is well known that champion NSW trainer Chris Waller has quite an opinion of his mare.
No matter what races she lines up in during the spring, Parables is a horse worth following.
