On Wednesday night Studio Friuli hosts the battle of the Bianconeri, and Michael Lintorn sees Udinese having an early Christmas treat at the expense of Juventus.

Cagliari v AC Milan

While always an optimist when it comes to the much discussed subject of a demise in Italian football, the thrilling battle brewing for this season's scudetto suggests that all is well right now.

Evidence of the quality at the top of the table is provided by the fact that despite claiming 26 of the last 30 points available to them, champions AC Milan still haven't been able to unseat Juventus. With the Bianconeri visiting joint-second Udinese on Wednesday though, this is a huge opportunity to do so that they are [1.57] to take.

It's a short price however for a team held on two of their last three away days, especially as Cagliari have lost just once at home, so the [1.9] on under 2.5 goals appears a sounder bet here. Ten of the hosts' last 12 games have ended that way, and likewise two of AC Milan's last three on the road.

Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals @ [1.9]

Udinese v Juventus (Wednesday, 19:45)

It's a cracker to determine who sits top of the tree at Christmas - excuse those laboured clichés, but rarely does it get more exciting than this.

In the black-and-white corner are Udinese, yet to drop a point at the Stadio Friuli, where they have conceded only twice in seven outings, and buoyed by Europa League progress and a fine draw away to Lazio even though main man Antonio Di Natale was only used as a substitute.

In the other black-and-white corner are Juventus, unbeaten 15 weeks into the campaign, having defeated every other top-five club that they have faced, and aware that victory will leave them first at Christmas for the first time since Calciopoli.

Whose side should be taken? Udinese are slight outsiders at [3.1], which looks a mighty price given their home record. The Old Lady have trailed in their last two on the road, indicating that the end of their run is near, and they have lost on two of their last three trips to Udine.

Best Bet: Udinese to win @ [3.1]
