Stephanie Rice finished a disappointing sixth in the 400m individual medley on night one finals but Betfair punters still give her a chance of victory in the 200m event at (4.90).
Australia's 4x100m freestyle relay team has justified its long odds-on price to win Australia's first gold medal in the pool at London 2012.
Heading to the blocks for the final as (1.11) favourites, our quartet of Alicia Coutts, Melanie Schlanger, Brittany Elmslie and Cate Campbell set a new Olympic record on the way to touching in first place.
Despite their courageous efforts in the relay, both Schlanger (22.0) and Campbell (60.0) are considered only roughies in the individual 100m freestyle event.
Stephanie Rice finished a disappointing sixth in the 400m individual medley on night one finals but Betfair punters still give her a chance of victory in the 200m event at (4.90).
She trails compatriot Alicia Coutts at (4.60) and the gold medalist and new world record holder from the 400m I-M, China's Shiwen Ye, who has firmed from (4.0) to (2.08).
Coutts is given only a rough chance of winning the women's 100m butterfly on night two at current odds of (11.50). American's Dana Vollmer is a resounding favourite at (1.26).
Australia's sprint sensation James Magnussen will take to the pool for the first time at London 2012 to spearhead our tilt at the 4x100m freestyle relay on night two.
Australia is currently the (1.56 )favourites to win the gold medal with the USA considered the only legitimate threat at (4.60).
