The three-time winners, who were runners-up in Sydney 2000 to surprise package Norway, are at @ Betfair odds of (1.44) to beat Canada and are (1.75) to take gold on Thursday at Wembley.
Team USA look a certainty to beat Canada in comfortable fashion on Monday night in the Women's Football at Olympics 2012, but with both sides having strong defences, Hannah Duncan believes backing 'Under's might be the bet.
It's a local derby in the second Olympic semi-final at Old Trafford on Monday night, as tournament favourites USA take on Canada.
It will come as little surprise that world number one, the USA, are firm favourites to progress to their fifth Olympic final in the five Games in which women's football has been involved.
The three-time winners, who were runners-up in Sydney 2000 to surprise package Norway, are at @ Betfair odds of (1.44) to beat Canada and are (1.75) to take gold on Thursday at Wembley.
They, along with Hope Powell's Team GB, were the only two sides to qualify from the group stages with maximum points, where they beat France, Colombia and North Korea, before dispatching New Zealand in the quarter-finals.
But despite only reaching the quarter-finals as one of two best third-placed sides behind Sweden and Japan, Canada will be high on confidence after their 2-0 quarter-final win over Great Britain, where two early goals - against a team who had yet to concede in the tournament - sealed their place in the last four.
The outcome will be decided by the teams' respective forwards as the States have conceded just two goals in the Games so far - both in their opening group match against France - while Canada's back-line have also held firm, being beaten just three times.
In that respect, it should be a low scoring affair on Monday night but reigning Olympic champions the USA are likely to have that extra bit of quality and experience to see them through to Thursday's final without too much concern.
