The Cowboys have Thurston at five-eighth while Souths are relying on a rookie in Adam Reynolds and an enigma in John Sutton.
After a classic Anzac Day game, Matt Adamson is up for another thriller when the Cowboys meet the Rabbitohs in their weekend NRL match-up.
What a classic game we had between the Dragons and Roosters on Anzac day.
You have to feel for the Chooks, who were the better team for 76 minutes.
Both sides were desperate to win and played running-football before a great crowd of 38,500 screaming fans.
Who'd have thought the match would be decided with only one minute remaining?
We all know Betfair is a heaven for in-play punters and this was a bonanza for the Dragons backers and Roosters layers. The Dragons reached $12.50 and the Roosters traded at $1.01 for plenty.
There's a prime example of the uncertainty of sport.
I have a suspicion there will be more thrilling footy to come this weekend starting with Souths and North Queensland.
I can't split these sides and the punters are having the same problem. I can understand why Souths are slight favourites but in these line-ball propositions, I like to examine the quality of the playmakers.

The one case I can make for a South Sydney win is the 'bounce back' factor. They played poorly against the Warriors last start, but stats show that more than 50% of teams that lose one week rebound and win the next.
I do like the form of Taylor and Crocker in the pack and Inglis has been a revelation at fullback. These three men have played vital roles in ensuring Souths stay in touch with the rest of the competition.
Reynolds, while a rookie, has been sound and is shaping as a long-term option at halfback.
He's just no JT.
I like the Cowboys in an upset.
I also think there will be points scored, so go for the 'overs' in total match points betting.
Poor Old Parra
Betfair punters all want to win some cash and you can do that by backing the Tigers to beat the woeful Parramatta.
I can't see Parramatta getting out of this hole. They aren't a unified squad and don't have the class or depth to be contenders at all week to week.
Hayne can only carry the Eels so far and dropping a $550k recruit to the park is a dramatic step after seven weeks. Chris Sandow has been a chronic disappointment.
Tigers by plenty
Panthers 0 - others 60
Speaking of woeful, my old mob go from bad to worse and the team they will put on the park this week resembles a Windsor Wolves outfit and not an NRL side.
Obviously Luke Lewis is the exception. He simply doesn't deserve to be classed among his team mates.
My heading says it all.
Knights for me - and they're good odds.
