No whimpers for Roar

Coach Ange Postecoglou sets such high standards for his players that he’ll have drummed into them that they need to exploit vulnerable teams.

With Brisbane having only lost one of their 12 meetings with Wellington Phoenix, Andy Morris would be surprised with anything other than a home victory at Suncorp this Sunday.

The Phoenix are starting to fall apart after a reasonably promising start to the campaign. Off-field problems which eventually saw the club sold were pushed to the background with four points from their first two games...but it's now three defeats in a row.

Wellington have never won in Brisbane, so the chances of them ending the Roar's streak of 33 games unbeaten are remote.

The Roar did surrender two points quite tamely last weekend, in a 2-2 draw with Melbourne Victory where they should have been capable of finishing a nine-man Victory.

Back at Suncorp and with a clean bill of health, though, they're hard to oppose this round.

With the Kiwi side missing key players and low on confidence, the question here surely is how many Brisbane will rack up.

Ricki Herbert showed with his success at last year's World Cup when leading the All Whites that he has a great tactical mind when it comes to neutralising good opposition. He will need all of that ability here, for sure.

Brisbane are 1.33 in match odds betting, while the Phoenix are 11.0.
