Mystic Apple averages a win every two races over his career, though last week was his first at this track/distance.
Mystic Apple goes for his third straight win at The Meadows on Saturday, but Andy Morris isn't so sure he may have it all his own way in race six, the Remondis Waste Final (Gr 5, 8.57).
Val Awramenko, who owns and trains him, was sweating at the finish as he got home by 0.25 lengths over McDoom in last week's heat.
The pair will attract plenty of attention when they meet again, but Mystic Apple's preferred draw will see him start favourite.
Mystic Apple averages a win every two races over his career, though last week was his first at this track/distance.
McDoom's handler Jason Thompson will have been impressed by last week's run, and the August 14 win at Sandown Park, as he had been a little out of sorts previously.
Two others worth considering are Shintaro Samurai and Iceman Raikkonen, who start next to each other in boxes six and seven and both won their heats.
The latter, trained by Jeffrey Britton, has perhaps more appeal. He clearly likes this trip, having finished a quarter-length second to Okie Bale a fortnight ago, and has 20 wins in 68 starts.
Rodney Clark's Shintaro Samurai was slightly quicker than Iceman Raikkonen in winning his heat in 34.88, but that was only his second win in nine outings over the track/distance.
