The Wallabies will start favourites against Wales, but that’s probably based more on their Tri-Nations form than the performances in New Zealand.

The big prize has eluded them again, and Andy Morris thinks that unless Australia can clinch third place at the World Cup, it could be an uncomfortable weekend for Robbie Deans.

Four years ago, he missed out on the job he really wanted.

Despite failing to bring back the cup from France, Graham Henry held onto his job as All Blacks coach.

To most New Zealanders, that seemed a mistake - polls showed Deans was the overwhelming choice of the nation. There was only one way the former Crusaders chief could respond; by leading the Wallabies to success in his native country this time.

Sadly, for him, and Australia, it just hasn't worked out.

On Saturday he'll no doubt be genuinely glad to see Henry hailed as the hero of the All Blacks. Before then, he probably has 80 minutes to save his own job.

The Wallabies will start favourites against Wales, but that's probably based more on their Tri-Nations form than the performances in New Zealand.

Whereas Warren Gatland has named his strongest Wales team, with every man determined to bounce back hard from the defeat to France, the Wallabies look vulnerable.

Despite the win against South Africa aside, it's not been a good World Cup for Australia. They were no match for the All Blacks last week, which was hardly a surprise to anyone who saw their defeat to Ireland.

It's a surprise that Deans has made a number of changes for this match given that it could be his last in charge.

Australia are 1.72 in match odds betting, while Wales are 2.54.
