Caulfield R6 1600m Grp1 - Raffaello
For me, you can't go past Raffaello and I'll be having something on him with bags of confidence.
Raffaello deserves to be favourite here, his run in the Sir Rupert Clarke was outstanding.
Could be some value in the multiples with those horses but happy to stick with Raffaello.
Yalumba Stakes R5 2000m Grp1 - Douro Valley
Likely to work forward from his outside gate, Douro Valley should give punters a sight at big odds although there is no doubt that this year's edition of the race has greater depth.
Hard to go past the obvious two but, with the privilege of the part owner, I have to steer longshot lovers towards Douro Valley again - just as I did last year.
He certainly needs to find a bit on his last run but he has become cagier as he has got older and the stable are keen to remind him that he is a racehorse - hence the gear change.
Gr.1 Caulfield Guineas - Denman
Five last start winners, two of those - Denman and Carrara - boasting picket fences next to their names. The former, one of only two contestants to have already won at Gr.1 level (Manhattan Rain the other), is favourite and likely to be short.
The favourite may well win easily but happy to scoot around him a bit for some value and have something eachway on Starspangledbanner (the likely leader from barrier one and bound to give you a sight) and Carrara.
