6 June Stradbroke - Ortensia

Black Piranha is the early Stradbroke favourite and he deserves to break through after a run of seconds in top company. He was brave behind Apache Cat last start and his ability to handle any sort of track condition places him in good stead.

Also in the market is Bank Robber. He was so good first up and a little disappointing last time - maybe just second up blues? If that's the case he has to be given another chance. Another heavy track may however test.

Vocalic is facing a rise in grade but is in great form of late and he loves the wet. Such is the nature of handicaps that sometimes a lightweight can feature and this fellow - a prolific winner of 12 races - won't know himself on 52.5kg.

Also sneaking in with not much on her back is Ortensia and she will have plenty of fans here. She is probably better on firm ground but she tries so hard every start and was gutsy over last year's Stradbroke winner Mr Baritone last week. Barrier 16 is tricky but she has just so much potential.

In summary I think there is some good value here. Ortensia is the one to beat but don't let last year's one/two Mr Baritone and Hard To Catch go out at silly odds.
