...on the long stretches of the Hillside home straight Music Shop should get her chance to bring up another win.
Timeform's Gary Crispe likes in-form mare Music Shop in today's Le Pine Funerals Handicap at Sandown Hillside today.
Music Shop, a Darren Weir-trained mare, scored an impressive win on the Lakeside course last time, and although up a grade here looks hard to hold out on the Hillside track.
A daughter of Mujahid, she placed at her first four starts this time in before stepping out over 1200m at Moonee Valley. There she settled midfield and had to wait on a run before bursting through and scoring an impressive win.
Music Shop then raced on the Lakeside course here over 1200m in an RB72. After settling midfield she had to be steadied off heels but worked into the clear in the straight and hit the line hard, running away with a 1.2 length win.
This is a step-up but she drops in weight and has drawn for a good run with cover in barrier one. From there jockey Craig Williams will be able to bide his time and on the long stretches of the Hillside home straight she should get her chance to bring up another win.
The Peter Snowden trained Beg has been well held at her two runs this campaign but drops in grade today and can improve sharply.
The mare, a third-up winner last campaign, resumed over 1300m here in an RB82 on slow ground where she settled fifth but didn't come on, finishing sixth. Last start, in even tougher grade at Caulfield, she drifted back from the inside gate and had to be steadied off heels. She tried to get into the clear in the straight but didn't have a lot of room in traffic and could manage only seventh.
This is a much easier assignment as she drops not only in class but back to midweek grade. Beg is fitter, drawn for a good run and should be hard to hold out if she recaptures her best.
Mikey's Magic is racing well this campaign, including a last start win in an RB72 at Cranbourne. She is certainly up to mid-week class and should be prominent throughout again.
