Betfair and Glen share a passion for country racing, both understanding that were it not for trainers like John Castleman, clubs like Mildura and horses like Vote for Lust, there would be no industry.

Triple Melbourne Cup winner Glen Boss will pilot Australia's worst race-horse, 86-start maiden Vote for Lust, this Sunday in Mildura.

He's regarded as one of the world's great jockeys, best known for piloting Makybe Diva to three successive victories in the Melbourne Cup, but even the great Glen Boss may have finally met his match.

In a desperate attempt to break one of the longest losing streaks in Australian racing history, Boss has been engaged to ride the Betfair-sponsored country galloper, nine-year-old maiden Vote for Lust, when he steps out for his 87th career start on Mildura Cup Day this Sunday, May 20.

"I have achieved many things in my career as a jockey but if I can get Vote for Lust home, it might just go down as my greatest effort," the legendary hoop said.

The prolific Group One winning jockey will don the Betfair silks and take the reins of the John Castleman-trained gelding to mark the new sponsorship agreement between Betfair and the Mildura Racing Club.

"When I eventually retire I will be able to say I won three Melbourne Cups on Makybe Diva, and after Sunday, I will also be able to say I rode Australia's worst racehorse," Boss said.

"I am really excited about heading to Mildura on Sunday. Vote for Lust has developed a cult following and if my involvement can help the Mildura Club on their annual Cup Day, that's fantastic."

The sponsorship of Vote for Lust has generated a huge amount of excitement. Since Betfair started its sponsorship of Vote for Lust, there has been a significant groundswell of support for what many see as the racing version of 'the Aussie Battler'.

Vote for Lust's trainer John Castleman says he's ecstatic to have a world-renowned jockey riding for him.

"I know it's start 87 but he's cherry ripe for Cup Day and I reckon the old boy has a hoof on the till," the veteran trainer quipped.

Mildura Race Club CEO Aaron Garvie says the appearances of Boss and Vote for Lust will be a significant drawcard.

"Betfair's sponsorship of Mildura Racing Club and Vote for Lust have been fantastic for racing in the local area and all the staff here were thrilled when we were told Glen Boss was booked to ride here on day two of our carnival on Sunday.

"We are proud to have an association with Betfair because they've shown a genuine interest in helping racing in this region and we hope that the relationship continues and grows in the future "
