High Voltage to Rock n Roll

There’s every sign he can repeat that victory here, despite the presence of some decent rivals.

It's worth staying til the end at The Gardens on Friday for the chance to back High Voltage (race 10, 6.55).

Brian Barrington has high hopes for this son of Bombastic Shiraz-Frosty Fruits, and has brought him back to the track where he had a promising steward's trial last month.

Since then, he has won both his outings impressively, most recently by three lengths from Chronicle Cracka at Maitland on August 11.

Henry Tanga is the opposite of High Voltage, with 80 starts behind him including 27 over the track/distance. His record of just one win over that period here suggests he might struggle again.

Octane Patch won at The Gardens on July 16, beating Mother In Law by three lengths, but to back him you'd have to disregard a poor outing last time when he was sixth over this distance on August 20.

A better choice, if you want to oppose High Voltage, might be Bell Bailey, in box eight, who won over this track and distance earlier this week.

That was his third in 14 starts here, and saw him hold off Minor Times by a quarter of a length. He looks a consistent sort, and owner/trainer Michelle Bailey will have high hopes for him despite an awkward draw.

Queen Akaroa (box three) was a disappointing fifth seventh at Riccarton last time out over 330m, but returns to a track and distance where she scored by three lengths over Alistair Tanga on June 8.
