More Joyous stays in mare’s grade where she has never been beaten, but that streak might be about to end, hopefully at the hands of Response.

A gun barrier and the prospect of her main rival not being at her best indicates to Brad Thompson that Response is a big chance to return to Group One-winning form in the Myer Classic (1600m) on Saturday.

The barrier gods have looked kindly upon Response, drawing perfectly in barrier three, while the short-priced favourite, talented mare More Joyous has been dealt with gate 13.

It's the handy draw that Response's training duo of Mat Ellerton and Simon Zahra have been waiting for.

At her last start, Response was doing her best work late when flashing from back in the field to take third spot, just 1.25 lengths behind More Joyous in the Tristarc Stakes at Caulfield a fortnight ago.

More Joyous won purely on the back of her determination to fight for victory, but on Saturday, a poor draw is likely to make life hard for jockey Nash Rawiller, who was candid in his post-race analysis of the mare by admitting she was far from at her best at her last start.

More Joyous stays in mare's grade where she has never been beaten, but that streak might be about to end, hopefully at the hands of Response.

The prospect of a bit of rain is little worry for Response, with the only query being how the track will play if slightly rain-affected.

Response ran third to Temple Of Boom in the Group Two Gilgai Stakes when second-up at Flemington, outlining her likening for the unique Flemington circuit.

Dwayne Dunn, who possibly went slightly early in the Gilgai, sticks aboard the daughter of Charge Forward.

Response is currently quoted at $10 on Betfair.
