Spain are now @ Betfair odds of (1.88) to win Euro 2012 after they beat Portugal on penalties in Donetsk.
Cesc Fabregas scored the winning penalty as Spain prevailed 4-2, following a 0-0 draw.
For 90 minutes the match was a bore-fest with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jaoa Moutinho, Andreas Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas conjuring only a single shot between them. Ronaldo ballooned a late chance but neither team really looked like scoring.
However, with such talent both sides are always capable of making the killer breakthrough. Spain looked like they might do so in the first period of extra-time when Andreas Iniesta saw his shot brilliantly saved by Rui Patricio. A couple of minutes later, Sergio Ramos fired a free-kick over the bar.
Portugal looked tired while Spain were increasingly threatening. In the second period of extra-time, Patricio saved from Jesus Navas while Pedro also had a chance when he was almost through on goal. Paulo Beno's men hung on, however, and the match went to penalties.
Xabi Alonso and Moutinho both saw their spot-kicks saved before Iniesta and Pepe both scored. Pique made it 2-1 to Spain before Nani levelled. Ramos dinked his in a la Andreas Pirlo against England before Bruno Alves cracked his effort against the bar.
Up stepped Fabregas. His shot hit the post before crossing the line to send Spain in to their third consecutive tournament final.
