Early trot for Lavana

Overall, her record at the track/distance is five wins and five placings from 19 starts, which is significantly better than when she runs elsewhere.

Sometimes it pays to be on time, and Andy Morris thinks that could be the case at Wentworth Park on Friday night when Lavana looks a good thing in race one (6.38).

She's a consistent bitch, having won here in her last two visits, most recently last Saturday by the narrowest possible margin over Salvatore.

Overall, her record at the track/distance is five wins and five placings from 19 starts, which is significantly better than when she runs elsewhere.

When she won last week, it was out of the same box she has here (box one), so there's plenty to suggest she can score again.

Trainer Steve White will hope Aston Abira, out of box three, can stop Lavana's win sequence.

She won at Nowra on August 10 by half a length from Witch on Wheels and put in a good effort here last week when second by 1.5 lengths to Mr Meana over this 720m trip.

Elsewhere, the only other runner worth a look is Jedd Lion (box seven) who is something of a veteran with 72 runs behind him (15 wins). A record of just three wins in 33 outings here, though, does little to inspire confidence.

So the advice is, get in early and have your money on Lavana.
