Donald's day at Eastlake

Betting tips RSS / Brad Thompson / 22 September 2011 / 1 Comments Bet Now View Market

Donald is probably the most consistent player of the season and has the right style of game for Eastlake where he lost by just one stroke last year.

Brad Thompson can't wait to watch both the Tour Championship and Fedex Cup titles as the 30 hottest players in the world of golf look to finish the season on a high.

With what is expected to be a relatively tame consequence for missing the short stuff, Eastlake could be a course where driving accuracy may not be a prerequisite to winning the tournament.

It might play into the hands of rising Aussie golfer Jason Day, who has shown this season that his short game is far and away his biggest asset.

But lets not over-analyse. I've gone against and around Luke Donald, with much success this season.

On paper, this just looks to be his tournament.

Plenty will argue that he hasn't shown enough to be seen as the best player in the world - but there is no doubt he is right up there when his game is in top gear. Of course, his inability to win tournaments is a worry, but lets assume he has learnt plenty from putting himself in winning positions and being thereabouts at nearly every tournament when the weekend has come around.

It's hard to see him not being in a winnable spot at the business end here.

Can he finish it off?

This is his biggest chance to win one. He is probably the most consistent player of the season and has the right style of game for Eastlake where he lost by just one stroke last year.

He is at a well-fancied favourites price though.

There is much more value with the Aussies, so I would suggest making them your best result.

Adam Scott won here five years ago, which is enough to suggest he'll be in the firing line again. While he hasn't set the world on fire since the Bridgestone, he hasn't exactly played poorly, either. If he can lift marginally one last time this season, he can figure in the finish. Remember, he could make a serious tilt at contending for victory in the Fedex Cup.

It's a longshot, but I don't want to miss out in case he gets it done (with the help of some of those higher up than him).

Jason Day is in the same position as Scott - all he needs to do is improve his overall game slightly to be a major player here. The pair deserve to finish the season on a high after stellar season-long performances. He's only been to Eastlake twice, where he tied for 17th, but expect the up-and-coming Aussie to be hungry for the final prize on offer.
