Jake Norton's dose of daily tipping love for today's meet at Bendigo.

The Bendigo Jockey Club is colloquially known as the "Nursery of Champions" for its reputation in providing future turf stars with a platform to launch their careers.

And that's exactly the kick-start several trainers will be looking for when they front up with some promising youngsters on today's card at Bendigo.

Recommended bets

BACK R6 #10 Whitlam
Whitlam showed sufficient talent twelve months ago as a two-year-old for the powerhouse Snowden stable to be tried on debut in the Maribyrnong Plate.

Put away after that effort, he returned with two seconds in town before finally breaking through at Cranbourne.

One thing restricting this capable galloper in his previous campaigns was an inclination to preciousness, obviously a common trait in young colts. Without his testicles this campaign, I'm expecting great improvement and on that he'll be too strong today.

BACK R8 #1 Cosmic Causeway
I tipped this guy a fortnight ago on the back of a reasonable return to racing (first up 5th) prior to that. He didn't let us down that day, running third to Backen Lay, but had the runs of the two been swapped, I can't help but think the result would have too.

Boasting a city win from his eight starts, another step up in trip will suit him after he ground out the finish well last time. Daniel Stackhouse also handily takes two kilos off Cosmic Causeway's back, which is also in his favour.

LAY R3 #6 Haute Normandy
Obviously he has talent on the back of two city runs, the first of which was just a narrow defeat, but he has come up odds-on in early markets today, and up against a couple of promising up-and-comers today, I'm certainly not keen to back him at red figures.

That makes him a lay.
