Kochi did manage to beat KKR earlier in the tournament by the narrow margin of six runs, although Muralitharan was key in that victory and we’d prefer it if he was involved.

Ed Hawkins tackles this important contest on Thursday for Kochi's qualification aspirations.

Kochi
Mahela Jayawardene remains with Kochi until the middle of this month when he will have to leave for Sri Lanka's tour of England. Opening batsman Michael Klinger, an Australian, could be replaced by Muttiah Muralitharan. John Hastings and Thisara Perera are also in contention.

Kolkata
Yusuf Pathan hit 47 from 26 balls in Kolkata's beating of Deccan to announce himself as a man in form. Gautam Gambhir and Manoj Tiwary were also in for quick runs. Brett Lee will lead the pace attack.

Match odds
Kolkata have won their last three matches and topped the table before Wednesday's matches. Still, Kochi, who have been up and down, might be considered too big at [2.30]. They did manage to beat KKR earlier in the tournament by the narrow margin of six runs, although Muralitharan was key in that victory and we'd prefer it if he was involved. KKR are [1.65].

Top KKR batsman
Eoin Morgan has been a surprise opener for KKR recently and although he has not had a great deal of success he could be worth following to produce a top-bat effort. He will go off at around [5.00].

Ed Hawkins says: back Kochi @ [2.30]
