The horse pulled up well after the race and Anthony is taking him along towards the Melbourne Cup.
Part two of our exclusive blog where Luke Murrell takes us inside the training camp of Lucas Cranach.
Well what a week that was!
Talk about stressful!
Vet checks, foot abscesses, Caulfield Cups.
I'm sure Bart never had to put up with all of this.
We were absolutely thrilled with the Australian debut of Lucas Cranach in the Caulfield Cup. To run fifth in such a prestigious race was incredible.
There was such a great buzz around the track on Saturday and it culminated right on race time. We watched the race on the running rail and we had front row seats for the final 300 metres of the Cup.
Lucas got further back than we expected but that was no fault of Corey Brown as he simply got shuffled back when the pace dropped and could do nothing about it.
We told Corey to stay out of trouble when he started making ground but horses kept pushing him wider on the track and on the turn he was eight-wide but still closing.
Although I knew that the tough run would take its toll, I couldn't help but cheer Lucas on over the final 400 metres. He was close enough to test the winner but unfortunately she was fitter and had enjoyed a much better run.

We're counting down the days until the first Tuesday in November!
