The Cards remain underdogs with Betfair punters to win the overall series at $2.40.

Mathew Thompson marvels at the big baseball collect on the cards for those lucky Betfair punters who took St Louis at $300, now into $2.40, to win the World Series.

Betfair punters who backed the St. Louis Cardinals to win the World Series at $300 are sitting pretty heading into game one against the Texas Rangers on Thursday.

St. Louis looked little chance to even make the playoffs back in August when they were more than ten games out of a wildcard spot, but some punters obviously had faith and happily took the $300 available on Betfair.

Those optimists will no doubt be grateful to Tony Le Russa for guiding his side into the big dance.

The Cards remain underdogs with Betfair punters to win the overall series at $2.40. The Texas Rangers remain favourites at $1.71, even though St. Louis has home-field advantage for game one.

The beauty with Betfair is that those clever players who took the $300 can now lay-off and ensure they make a profit either way. Texas even traded at significantly bigger odds only a month ago when $13 was available on the exchange.

The World Series starts on Thursday morning Australian time, with several live markets available on every game including match odds, total runs and series correct score.
