After a weekend where the Cox Plate favourite put up a good initial run but then bombed out, and was left with 'Pink' cheeks, Dominic Beirne analyses all the major races.

Races that have been traditionally the domain of males, such as the Epsom, Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate, have fallen to the female sex.

In my review on 24 September, I tabled the handful performances of mares that had run a fortnight earlier in the Stocks Stakes and forecast that there was more to come.

In my wildest imagination, I didn't expect them to reach such heights.
