Roos have the bounce

AFL Tips RSS / Nick Tedeschi / 28 July 2011 / Leave a comment Bet Now

They have won four of five at the Docklands and with Chris Judd possibly distracted by the birth of his first child, the Roos can stun the Blues on Friday night.

Nick Tedeschi's preview of this weekend's big games in round 19 of the AFL.

NORTH MELBOURNE (v Carlton)
1.5 units at match odds of $3.25 or better

North Melbourne have had it all over Carlton in recent years, downing their neighbours in seven of the last eight encounters and 17 of the last 22 since 1996.

When these two met in 2010, the Kangaroos ran out 29-point winners.

There is no doubt Carlton have been flying this year, but they have won only two of their last five.

The Kangaroos, meanwhile, have been very much a momentum team, putting four wins on end before heading into this on the back of consecutive victories. They have won four of five at the Docklands and with Chris Judd possibly distracted by the birth of his first child, the Roos can stun the Blues on Friday night.

WEST COAST (v Western Bulldogs)
2 units at match odds of $1.65 or better

The Eagles are well and truly up and about again.

After a stunning victory over Fremantle, holding off their cross-town rivals by a single point, the Eagles travel east to meet a Western Bulldogs team whose hopes of a late-season fight-back has been derailed by consecutive losses.

With Adam Cooney and Dale Morris likely to miss this week for the Dogs, and the Eagles winning nine of the last 13 against the Dogs, they are going to be very hard to roll this weekend.

This looks like it could be a big West Coast win.

HAWTHORN (v Fremantle)
3 units at match odds of $1.40 or better

Last Sunday's Western Derby loss would have been crushing for Fremantle, who are only just holding onto a spot in the top eight.

A win would have had them favoured to sneak in, but now they are looking like they are distinct possibilities to fall out. There has been chatter that Aaron Sandilands will return this week, yet this seems highly unlikely, and the loss of defender Luke McPharlin could prove a big blow.

The Hawks are flying with nine wins of their last 11 and they have rolled the Dockers in four of their last five.

It is tough to see the Hawks being challenged here.
